Singer/Songwriter Billy Roach began writing and recording his original music while attending college in western Pennsylvania in 1998. Heavily influenced by the 90’s alt/rock movement, Billy played acoustic solo shows throughout the university in front of audiences as large as 2000 people.
In 2001,Billy moved back to the Philadelphia area and recorded a demo with the purpose of finding musicians to form a band. From 2003-2010, Billy performed with musicians under the name Overlook. Several of his original songs were featured on major Philadelphia area radio stations such as 93.3 WMMR, Y100, Radio 104.5, and 88.5 WXPN. A track on their debut EP titled “Don’t Follow Me’ was featured in a feature film “Wag The Dog” as well as being included on 93.3 WMMR’s Jaxons Local Shots Vol.1 compilation album. In 2010, Billy released his first full length album titled, “Smoke and Mirrors” which was reviewed very favorably. This album landed the band opening slots for major label acts Civil Twilight, Seven Mary Three, Spacehog and members of Dr. Dog. During this period, The song “Achey Arms” was featured in heavy rotation on Philadelphia’s top alt/pop/rock station, Radio 104.5fm. Songs from this album were featured internationally on television networks such TLC,CNN and on Redbull Rampage Evolution.
In 2013, Billy completed is second full length album entitled, “Biology,Chemicals, and The Intangible”. An introspective, cinematic album took over a year to complete..an exhausting process. Upon completion,the band played several shows and festivals in support of this album during the following year. The song “I’ll Change Tomorrow” was played regularly on 88.5 WXPN and featured on a regional tv commercial.
After becoming a dad and homeowner in the same year, a different reality set in…and a change was needed.
2016, A new 3-song EP written,performed,recorded and mixed by Billy was released. His first truly “solo” effort includes the tracks “Down”, “I’m Still Here”, and “Lullaby”.
